第7回理学部HiSEP基礎セミナー（11月28日（金）2限に開催）は、台湾・National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University　のHsueh-Ju Liu先生に物理分野から原子核物理学に関する話題をお話しいただきます。学部・学科を問わず多くの学生の皆さんのご参加をお待ちしています。

タイトル：　『The Evolution of Chemical Bonding: From Light Elements to Heavy Main-Group Compounds』

概要：How do atoms form bonds, and why do heavier elements behave differently from lighter ones? This lecture introduces the development of bonding theories in chemistry, beginning with Lewis structures and the octet rule. We will then explore how bonding changes from light to heavy main-group elements, including the “double bond rule” and unusual multiple bonds between heavier main-group elements. Finally, we will look at how metal–metal multiple bonds extend these ideas. Through these examples, students will learn how our understanding of chemical bonding has evolved and how new discoveries continue to challenge traditional rules.
